Casting is one of the basic processes of modern machinery manufacturing industry. It has the advantages of low cost, one-time forming and large parts with complex structure. It is widely used in auto parts, machinery manufacturing, electronics, medical equipment, clock instruments, hardware products, Many fields of industrial production such as aerospace.
Casting is an important industry in the mechanical industry. In today's rapid development of information, improving the production and processing efficiency and production quality of castings will be a must for the majority of foundry workers. The high scrap rate of casting blank products has always been a common problem in various casting methods in the industry. How to better control the quality of castings and improve the casting process is particularly important!
Due to the complexity of the casting process, there are many factors that affect the quality of the casting. Poor raw material control, unreasonable process plan, unreasonable mold structure design, improper production operation, etc. will cause various defects in castings. Common defects include inclusions, bubbles/pores, looseness and cracks.
Common defect 1: crack
Mainly due to unreasonable structural design and production process is not up to standard, its cracks mainly have two forms: casting cracks and heat treatment cracks.
The crack is in the form of a light line in the X-ray detection image.
Common defect 2: bubble / stomata
Mainly due to the improper ventilation of the casting during the casting process, caused by air or impurities. The bubbles/pores on the surface of the workpiece can be found by sand blasting, and the bubbles/pores inside the workpiece can be found by X-ray fluoroscopy.
Common Defect 3: Loose
Mainly due to the unreasonable design structure, the looseness of the casting generally results in a thick transition of the wall near the inner runner, a thick portion of the root of the flying riser, and a thin wall with a large plane.
This defect can be found by X-ray examination, which is severely filamentous in the X-ray image, and generally has a light cloud.
Common defect 4: inclusion
Mainly due to the uncleanness of the charge or the improper slag inclusion due to improper operation, it is distributed on the upper surface of the aluminum casting, at the corner where the mold is not ventilated.
This defect can be found by X-ray examination and is dark block in the X-ray image.
In order to ensure the quality of castings and save costs, it is necessary to detect defects in time in the early stages of the production process. X-ray non-destructive testing is the preferred method for defect detection of castings because it avoids material waste and increases production efficiency. Nissin Technology X-ray intelligent testing equipment has provided testing services for many die-casting enterprises at home and abroad. Among them, mechanical, electrical and image processing software research and development has obtained many national invention patents and software copyrights.
